Halftime notes - Game 5 - Jazz @ Rockets

  • Boozer.  We need you man.
  • An ugly series just turned hideous.
  • Good, Jazz hold Rockets to 38% shooting.  Bad, the Jazz shoot 37%.  And Utah is only 4-9 from the line.
  • Maybe the T on Booze will get his going.
  • Brewer is shooting 57% in the series.  And despite Ronnie shooting 3-8 for the game, sorry Kyle, you need to sit for now unless we’re up two with 3 seconds to play.
  • Will we see Deron go 24 in the second half?  Do you play him the rest of the game so that you have a chance to win and time to rest him?  Or do you rest him a bit and hope you hang in there but with a more likely chance of losing?
  • How many overturned calls this series have gone against the Jazz?  This game had a call on Mutumbo out of bounds.  Next thing you know, it’s Rockets’ ball.
  • Did they make a rule change this year that you can go over the back?

Despite the amazingly crappy play, the Jazz start the second half down just 11.  If they can start making some shots (they’ve had open looks all series), they can still pull this one out.  Otherwise, hello game 6.

Well, this is just embarassing. Something like 42% from the line. WTF? When is game 6?

Well, I’m in class so I’m only able to follow the game on the internet. Looks like it is rather pathetic. I’m not gonna panic though. If we lose game 6… time to panic! We could still win game 7 down there. We did a year ago, but I’d rather it not get to that point.
The Jazz have shot themselves in the foot for the next round though. They could’ve used a few days rest.

looked like they were trapped in mud, bad passes, missed free throws, bad rotations. I hope they got it out of their system, they need a dominating game 6 or there’s a really good chance they’ll be walking home after game 7

Just a clarification. I’m not looking ahead to the Fakers. Believe me.

A couple other things in scanning the box score… Where is AK? Has he been playing since game 1? Where is Korver? He has been useless for two games now.

6 minutes to go and these are some telling stats…

    AK 3 pts 1 reb 2 ast 1-6 shooting.
    Korver 0 pts 1 reb 1 ast 0-1 shooting.
    Harpringf 1 pts 2 reb 1 ast

We are playing like a f*cking high school jv team. This is pathetic. The Jazz are seriously at risk of losing this series. I just changed to watch the Suns and Spurs; at least it’s competitive.

Also, where is the bench? Korver, Milsap, Price, and Harpring all played like crap. Yuck!

On a side note, am I weird in thinking that Memo freezes out Korver? Deron flipped Korver the ball after KK’s block, and Memo ripped it out of his hands. On the next play, Korver was open for three on the weakside, and Memo forced a bad shot. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this. Has anyone else noticed it?

Not sure about the 2nd play you mention. On the first one, it didn’t seem like Okur noticed KoKo was there.

Sometimes KK plays Gay elf defense and I think Memo is very aware of that and wants none of it going on. Haha. I don’t know why Jerry just doesn’t put CJ in, it’s not like things could’ve gotten worse, and he might have just been the spark they needed. I mean Giri was playing for the Suns tonight, why isn’t CJ playing?? Especially when the rest of the bench is so unproductive.

I’m glad to see the standup Jazz fans in here not putting blame on refs and other things. I have to admit, I was bitching a lot about the refs in game 4, but the Rockets (and Jazz) took this game out of the refs hands.

Momentum is huge and it looks like the Rockets are slowly gaining control of this series. Sure, the Jazz controlled most of game 4 and should have won, but they almost lost that game. The Rockets have definitely turned a corner with last night’s game. T-Mac went off and showed some brilliance with his passing and some of the moves he made 1-on-1.

I’d say I’m about 55% sure the Jazz will close this series out on Friday at ESA, but they figure would’ve been more like 85% if the Rockets barely beat the Jazz last night.

I definitely don’t see a blowout coming out of game 6. It will be an absolute war. Ther will be no easy buckets.
