So, game 3 was extremely lame, and they almost blew game 4. If they blow game 5, it'll be very lame. They need to get this series over with ASAP because it looks like the Lakers will have theirs done in 1.

Whenever the point guard on a team with the firepower of the Jazz is the team's leading scorer, something is amiss, even if that team wins the game. Sometimes, of course, the point guard is the best scorer on the team, or a ball hog and glory hound. But often it's because the point guard's teammates cannot get open.

In Thursday's night's game, I think Houston, thanks to smart coaching and the return of Rafer Alston, did a much better job of covering Boozer and Okur, but I also think that Williams looked for his shot a bit too much. And that, I believe, is what Houston wanted: let Williams score, but shut down everyone else. It's the same strategy that Dallas employed against Phoenix a couple of years ago. Williams needs to avoid falling into that trap.

Williams also needs to reconsider his decision not to call a timeout before trying to score the last basket. There was time to execute a play with second and third options, and the Jazz should have set that up. But it seems to me that Williams was determined from the gitgo to take the ball to the hoop himself, as he did in similar circumstances earlier this year. That mindset blinds a man to other options. Williams tried to do too much, and to do it all by himself. Yes, he had a nice line in the box score; but the Jazz lost.
