Your Friday playoff links

I’ve been so busy writing playoffs previews for other sites that I haven’t made time to get one done for BBJ.  A full preview should be coming tonight.  In the meantime, here are a links to a couple of the things I’ve done for other sites and other Jazz playoff items.

Kris, it’s “ball don’t lie.” No “s” in there. I think you’re conflating the fine work of Skeets on Yahoo and Big Daddy Drew on Deadspin. You risk looking like you don’t know the reference to the oracle of the basketball gods, as well as ‘Sheed’s famous declaration of the same.

Nice work on your radio spot the other day, by the way. Cool to see the Jazz getting some nationwide love heading into this spectacular weekend. I couldn’t be any more excited.

Ahhh! My real name. Thanks for the heads up. Can’t believe I put that in there.

The radio spot was really fun. I knew what we were going to be talking about and had some canned responses but most of it was from the cuff. I’ll have a few more butterflies if they invite me back.

And you’re right. It’s going to be a great NBA weekend.

    Thanks for nothing Larry H.:

I thought Bucher’s apology was sincere, and I hope Jazz fans don’t prove his rescinded comments to be true with the reception we give him next time he’s in town.

Booing Derek Fisher was already shameless and makes me want to further distance myself from the mainstream Jazz fan.

I firmly believe that having the best homecourt and having class are not necessarily mutually exclusive. No?

I’m not going to comment on the Fish thing… he’s a Laker, and I’ll boo anyone not on the Jazz right now when the team plays the Jazz, be it Fish or be it 3rd string point guard on some random teams. Bring in Flop (& maybe Hart), and it’d be hard for me to not boo them too.

Bucher apologized… it’s over with. I hope. Haven’t been to a Jazz game in a while, so not sure about the “having class” thing. But there are fans everywhere that hurl insults because that’s what they do (for examples, Siler & Luhm’s blog thread about the Jazz winning in 6).

And the Seattle vote… while there may be other motives (OKC is fairly close to Dallas), at least Cuban & Allen voted against it. I would’ve hoped for a no vote for LHM too, but I really wasn’t counting on it. Congratulations to Stern… he’s one step closer to totally screwing the league over.

Holy crap, I just went back and looked at the Siler & Luhm post. Talk about a TROLL! Yikes. I think the comments on that thread matched the number of comments they’ve had all year combined.

  7. Danielle Says:

Yeah, I only read through like 10 of them before I felt like my IQ was dropping. haha. The Cavs and Wizards had a pretty intense game 1 today. One question? Why are finals and the first week of the playoffs the same??? Colleges should have finals the week before, that way I wouldn’t spend my time watching the playoffs when I should be studying.

  9. UtesFan89 Says:

    Agree completely Danielle.

And yeah… the responses in Siler & Luhm’s thing is… IQ dropping just doesn’t capture how bad it is.

  10. UtesFan89 Says:

    A win!

  11. scrumtrulescent Says:

you can thank me, I wore my Jazz shorts, shirt, sweatshirt and hat. You’re all welcome :)

I LOVE when the crowd chants “JAZZ SUCK, JAZZ SUCK…” and then we win. No better comeback exists in the universe.

  12. Danielle Says:

Um, I also wore MY Jazz sweatshirt, and remember whenever I’ve worn it they’ve won. haha. It was a good win. Did Memo even play at all in the 4th though??

  13. UtesFan89 Says:

Huge game from AK to help overcome the off-nights from Okur & Brewer.

And what about those late treys by KoKo… especially the 2nd one on that fast break. The Jazz should just have him shoot 3’s when he’s moving… he’d never miss. The spotting up does him in.
