Preview - Houston Rockets @ Utah Jazz - 14 April 2008 - Deja preview?
Okay, before I get to the preview, I need to share one thing. I look at my logs for search terms that end up at BBJ. I get a ton for Kyle Korver, Jazz players girlfriends (don’t know if that’s from chicks looking to see if they’re available or their current SOs checking up on them), Deron Williams & Amy Williams, etc. First that tells me I should run an NBA player gossip site. But I came across a disturbing search term today. Maybe it’s more disturbing that it brought up my site. Jaron Collins wallpaper. Now I don’t have many wallpapers and I certainly don’t have one of Jaron. Who’s looking to put a Collins wallpaper on their PC? I’ll have to follow that IP and see what else they’re searching on. Disturbing.
First off, if you’re head doesn’t hurt enough from the potential playoff seedings, read Siler’s post and the comments. They also have some info on TrueHoops. I don’t know if anyone knows what’s going on. The Jazz could still get a 3 seed but potentially a 2 seed? I just want the playoffs to start already. It would be nice if we didn’t have to face SA in the first round, but if that’s what it takes…
The Jazz are 3-1 on this last six-game “series” of the year. Unlike in a real series, they’d only have to win one more game to move on. But this one will require two wins in order for the Jazz to get favorable circumstances for the first round.
And of course the last game against the Spurs will be moot if they don’t win tonight (maybe not, I’m too lazy/tired to figure it out).
In a potential first-round matchup (although I think the Jazz v. my mom is still a possibility at this point), Houston comes to town with their own playoff seedings at stake. Alston is out though and Battier and Bobby Jackson might be. If that’s the case, the Jazz should win this one against T-Mac. Houston is locked into the 5-seed as far as the lowest they can drop. But they too could move up to #2 I believe. With the exception of Dallas and maybe LA, everyone in the west still has something to play for.
Not much that needs to be said about this game. We’re at home and should get the win. A loss could be one of the most disappointing losses of the year. It would be nice to not have to start out on the road @ Houston again.
So let’s hope that this one is over by the fourth again and we can focus on beating SA at SA.

I was going to ask you if you check your hits, I probably show up at least 12 times a day (NOT an exaggeration). A bunch of the hits on my blog are from searching “regret going to law school” HA!
Jazz 108 - Rockets 95
PS Love the pic

Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m the one searching for the Jaron Collins wallpaper. HAHAHA. Who in their right mind would want that?? Yikes!

Two quick fouls on Ronnie… at least one of them was a total crap call.
T-Mac’s gonna be getting the calls tonight…

Actually, the refs in general have been horrible today. The stupid calls against T-Mac. The play where Mutumbo was more or less elbowing Okur away from him… no call. A Rocket runs into AK on the shot… no call. And we’ve only played like 6 minutes.

Harp got away with a push off there.
Finally, something goes the Jazz-sters way.

I think that KK needs to get his haircut again before the playoffs. Because that is when he had his hot streak of 3’s last time. Also, did you hear the chants for MVP when Deron was shooting?? I felt proud. Hah.

Luis Scola looks ready to cry.
Oh, and I must say… if AK wasn’t paid like a superstar, he’d be a great role player on the team.
Oh great… here go the whistles again.

I’d like to jam Bob Delaney’s whistle down his throat.
Bastard.
The game is played by the players, not by your stupid whistle.

The most frustrating thing about the refs is their wild inconsistency. They make one call on one end and then the exact play happens on the other end and they call something completely different.

too little too late. I was pretty close on my score. I said 108 - 95, final was 105 - 96

Congratulations. Luis Scola is reallllllllly ugly. And, the fact that he pretty much got every call he wanted tonight makes me dislike him even more.

Bob Delaney just shot up there on my list of most hated refs.
Oh well… I guess a win is a win.

That’s awesome.

Good Gawd Girty what a Gas-!
Great Game, reffs still have a long way to go toward doing their job correctly first, then with competence. Half of me desires to see a player fast feed the ball to a reff when he really fouls up, but of course would not be prudent to do so.
Tough job that I am so very happy I do NOT get to do!
The JazzMen played tough ball last night, they keep getting better and better, with one massive game coming up to bring the season to a close I hope they put the hammer down on SAS tomorrow.
Then it’s Playoff time!
Go Jazz!
