Recap - LA Lakers @ Utah Jazz - 106-95 L - Karma, karma, karma, karmeleon

karmaCould we please stop telling the Jazz when they’re going to be on national TV? I need to recommend to Basketball Reference to put up the W/L for the Jazz when they’re not on KJZZ or FSN. It’s got to be bad.

Sadly, my halftime prediction came ture. The Jazz could never quite overcome the 20-point deficit after the first quarter. They had about a million and a half runs, but the Lakers always made a big shot or got a turnover to kill any mo the Jazz had.

The Jazz killed a lot of their own mojo though when they couldn’t convert on a fast break or because they couldn’t make a layup. The biggest tell as to whether our offense is working is that they will get a lot of backdoor cuts and layups. Well, they didn’t have any of that going in the first quarter. It was all jump shots and nothing was dropping. By the time they did get it going, it was too late. They would have had to play almost perfect ball to win this game and they didn’t. They did outscore the Lakers by 9 quarters 2-4, but that doesn’t matter jack.

LA’s three-ball was killer for us. It’s was either a Radmanovic, Fisher, or Farmar three that were rally killers.

I won’t go over the Jazz stats. Everyone got theirs though for the most part. We also got a lousy 9 points from our bench. Korver couldn’t hit anything. A couple of threes from him would have given us a huge boost.

Maybe the key to winning in this series is to have key players miss the game. We were without Boozer and Okur the last time we won. They were without Pau and Bynum.

So goodbye 19-game home winning streak. And it looks like goodbye to a shot at the number one seed. The Lakers took 3 of 4 this year which gives them the tiebreaker. I’m not a believer in karma, but if there’s any proof of it, it’s those cosmic boos coming back to haunt us in this game.

All is not lost though. We have 5 of the next 6 games at home with the one roady coming @ Minny. We have SEA, MIN, CHA, LAC, and WSH. And realistically we should win all of those.

And we’re going to need a 6-game win streak going into the nasty month of April. We have two against SAS, and one against NO, HOU, DEN, and DAL.

Only twelve more games left in the regular season.

Kobe pretty much summed it up when he said that this was a “payback” game for boo-ign Fischer last time. So, if they lost last night because of rude, obnoxious fans, then it is rather unfortunate, because the fans ended up disappointed anyway.

Oh, and I think Derek is a class-act guy and that we would’ve gone nowhere in the finals without him last year.

You DVR a lot. Go listen to what Barkley said during the Celtic/Maverick game. Get off your high horse with all this crap calling your own kind classless. “What are the fans supposed to do? Send him a fruit basket?”-http://www.basketbawful.com/

Stepping off my high horse… If you want to boo him, fine. But boo him because he’s a Laker or because he had a hard foul, or something along those lines. But booing him because you think he used his daughter’s illness as an out is classless.

And lest we forget, the team got better without him. We have Brewer, shipped Giri out, and brought in Korver. We also got rid of his contract.

And does he deserve to get booed more than Kobe? More than the Nuggets team? I can think of a hundred more players that I would much rather boo for the sake of booing.

But the same people that boo Fisher now are the same that would be complaining about Jerry playing Fisher at the 2 and the non-development of Brewer had Fisher stayed.

Keeping with the ‘karma’ theme…. Dirk the Jerk is out indefinitely with an ankle sprain. It’ll be interesting to see how the Mavs end up this season.

And guess who I met this weekend??

  7. Basketball John Says:

Good call on Jirk. I didn’t even think about that. Do you have pics from your meeting?

  8. Danielle Says:

    Yes sir, I do.
