Preview - Utah Jazz @ Denver Nuggets - 6 February 2008
This ain’t your father’s, your 2004-05, your December Jazz. This Utah Jazz had their last loss to Denver before rolling off their current 9-game winning streak. And what a ugly, ugly game that was.
But now we have a slighted Deron Williams, Kyle Korver to stretch the D, and Hart back. Okay, so maybe that last one isn’t going to help. But we’ve got to have the inside presence back after Camby had 20+ rebounds and 11 swats last time. Whose man is that anyway?
This will be the biggest road test of the streak. The Nuggets are hot right now as well, 7-3 in their last 10. They’re also 20-5 at home. And of course we return to the scene of the crime where Kleiza lit us up for 41.
But the defense has clamped down since then. The Jazz have dropped their Points Against to 99 from about 103 in that same time frame while Denver gives up the second most in the league with 104. But they also score 106.
So it should be another shootout. But if the Jazz can get some boards and play the defense that they’ve played during the streak, they have a good chance to come away with a win
Other notes
- AK is back for the game
- Collins is game-time decision
- Hart is back
- With the Suns trading for Shaq, Collins isn’t going anywhere. Not that he was before, but this pretty much crushes any hopes Jazz fans had to see him sent packing.
