The best links in all the world, in all the NBA, in all the universe… 22 January 2007 - A whole lotta links
In blog related time, not posting for a week might as well be like shutting down operations. It’s amazing how quickly not posting one day becomes 7. And it’s amazing how much I miss it. Lot’s of factors why that I won’t bore you with. But here are some quick notes and lotsa links to get things going again (again).
As it stands now, the Jazz are out of the playoffs. But incredibly, they’re within 1 1/2 games of Portland. They have to start coming down again, right? Right? They won again yesterday on a last-second jumper by Outlaw. That’s the third or fourth game they’ve won like that this year. Remember last year when we were getting those?
But if we were to take over first again, the Jazz would go from out of the playoffs to the fourth seed. Crazy. And why hasn’t the eastern conference caught up with the west yet? It seems like we’ve been having this discussion for the last decade. You have 10 teams in the west that are in competition for the playoffs. You only have 6 in the east that have a winning record. It’s a bit better this year than in years past, but I don’t know why things haven’t evened up. Stein has a good article on this.
And speaking of the west playoff picture now (which is still premature), you have eight teams within 5 1/2 games of first. Are the seeds even going to matter this year? If you’re the 1 seed, is there anyone you would prefer to play? This could be on of the best playoff series in while. Maybe even better than last year.
The Jazz are now 8-2 in their last 10 games. Granted, those two losses have come on the road. They’re home for three of their next four, but they face Sac (who’ve they struggled against), SA, and the Knicks. They also have a toughie on the road in Houston. So even though they’re at home, they would be quality wins and give them some momentum going into the next road trip.
On another note, I didn’t stay away from the Jazz for a week. I actually went to the game against the Clippers. It was probably one of the more boring ones I’ve went to, but we got the win and improves the Jazz record to 7-0 when I’m in attendance. There is one game I’m forgetting, but here’s a list of them as best as I can recall:
- ‘89 - At the Salt Palace against the Blazers. My first game.
- This is the game I forgot. It was between 94 & 2002. I believe it was against the Kings. The only reason I remember was because this is when I got my first Jazz hat and it was after a win.
- In the year before Shaq went to the Heat, I saw them fall at the Delta Center. They couldn’t go up and down the floor once without having a foul called.
- This game vs Seattle
- The only win against the Spurs in last year’s playoffs
- This year’s home game against Dallas
- And of course, the win against the Clippers
And next, this last week’s stats have been crazy because of the AK story. Once it got on deadspin, it was on blogs everywhere. I got shutdown by my webhost, but I got that fixed pretty quick. I had a record 9500 page views in one day and about 16000 for the week. And of course, I couldn’t capitalize on it because I couldn’t post more. Missed opportunity there. Bad timing.
And now, to some more links if you’ve made it this far:
- Kleiza’s big night against us was no fluke - But I did want to puke
- The evolution that is the Jazz
- Williams had a great week
- I always thought sports photography would be easy - All the pictures that aren’t fit to print.
- This is good news? This isn’t good news either.
- The Millsaps are all about “levels”
- Another Jazz fan at the Clippers game - My biggest complaint about the games? The half-time entertainment sucks. How many local dance groups do we have to watch? It’s great if they’re your kids, but not for anyone else.
- Players you should know
- Another fan’s All-star vote - Should be interesting if Williams gets in with TMac not playing.
- Not even a mention of #8
- Fire Sloan poll
- Boozer’s low post moves
- See, Williams isn’t out nights at strip clubs
- Mid-season update from UtesFan89
- Jazz fans booed John Stockton when he was picked. They also didn’t like Deron Williams. They don’t have a very good track record at picking PGs.
- Probably the only way Deron gets to the All-star game this year.
- Why didn’t we keep him? Gordan scored two trillion yesterday.
