JAZZ: The Surprise Season of 2003-04

Good hell. Was this really the team the year after Stockton and Malone? Why don’t I remember this? Looking at this team now, I don’t know how they won 42 games. I remember all the gloom and doom predictions how they would be one of the worst teams of all time. I remember thinking that they weren’t going to be that bad, but now 42 wins blows me away. To give them credit, AK was being AK, and Mo Williams, Raja Bell are good players on different teams now. And even Sasha and Arroyo are decent players now. But who was the go-to guy when the game was on the line? How Sloan didn’t win COY with this team, I’ll never know.

I mean we had Ruffin (forever immortalized by this play, Borchardt (and both of his fallen arches), Collins, Googs, and Raul Lopez (remember how he was suppose to be Stockton’s heir?), man, that was a team.

One more note, I didn’t mind them at the time, but damn those uniforms are ugly.

Recap 4/16/2007 - Portland Trailblazers @ Utah Jazz - Too little, too late

With PHX losing to Houston last night, it didn’t matter if they Jazz beat the Trailblazer by 100.  So I’ll put the blame on Phoenix and disregard Utah’s poor play over the last 2 months as the reason they lost home court in the first round.  So, after a meaningless game Wednesday night to wrap up the regular season, the Jazz are off to Houston for game 1 this weekend.

Keys in the win last night:
1.  Portland sucks,  especially without Brandon Roy
2.  The return of AK & Giricek

Found this in the box score for Lamarcus Aldridge:
DNP - Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.  Scary stuff.

Game 1, @ Houston, April 21 - More to come
